Introduction to the MAM

The Montreal Aviation Museum (MAM) is the only one of its kind in Quebec. It combines both civil and military aircraft as well as artifacts and exhibits to help the general public and especially youth understand our important contribution to the world of aviation. The MAM is a member-driven volunteer-based community organization. To achieve its goals, it receives support from its members, numerous cultural and educational institutions, including the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and McGill University and private donations.

Godfrey Pasmore

Founded by Godfrey Pasmore in 1998, the Montreal Aviation Museum is situated in the historical “Old Stone Barn” on the Macdonald Campus of McGill University in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue in the western part of the island of Montreal. A rental agreement was arranged through the Macdonald Campus/McGill University administration for a portion of this building to be refurbished and used as the site of the museum.

The Montreal Aviation Museum is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka, a place which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst many First Nations including the Kanien’kehá:ka of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron/Wendat, Abenaki, and Anishinaabeg. We recognize and respect the Kanien’kehá:ka as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which the museum is situated.

The MAM by-laws are incorporated in Article A of the Museum Charter which governs the management, membership, meetings and committees, elected officers, nomination and election of directors, and other operational provision. Donations are welcomed and tax receipts are prepared in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are the heart of our museum contributing their talents, knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to our mission and, in turn, provide an invaluable service to our community. Without their dedication and hard work, the museum would not be what it is today.
